Raymond L. Plotts, Sr.

Raymond L. Plotts, Sr., 92 died May 5, 2019. He was born April 20, 1927, 2 ½ miles southwest of Belmore, Ohio, to the late Charles Ira Plotts and Anna Lenore Casteel.
On April 21, 1951 he married Mary Katherine Wilhelm and she survives. He is also survived by children: Robert (Christine Rosebrock) Plotts, Katherine (Michael) Woods, Audrey Lou (Randal) Nye, Harold (Jeanne Meyer) Plotts, Anna Marie (Roger) Hoyt, Raymond L. (Debra Eberly) Plotts, Jr., and Christine Spence. He is also survived by sister Patricia (Carl) Bugner, 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were brothers Franklin, Elmoyn, Harold Sterrett; sister, Geraldine Morris, stepfather, Howard Sterrett; grandson, Shane Michael Spence and great-granddaughter, Grace Marie Aderman.
Raymond was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the U.S. Navy the day after his 17th birthday. He trained at U.S. Naval Training Station, Farragut, Idaho; and served in New Guinea and Admiralty Islands (Manus Islands) aboard light cruiser, USS Pasadena (CL65). He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and U.S. Navy Cruiser Sailors Association.
He was a maintenance millwright supervisor at Ball Metal Container, Findlay, Ohio, retiring in 1997.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m., Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Grelton Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m., Wednesday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at church.
Memorials are suggested to Bridge Hospice, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Donor's Choice.
