October 28, 1947 - June 21, 2024

   Donald Robert Maas, 76, of rural Deshler, Ohio passed away Friday morning, June 21, 2024 at his residence.
   He was born October 28, 1947 in McComb, Ohio to the late Robert and Irene (Wilhelm) Maas.
   Don was a 1965 graduate of the former Westwood High School and then served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.  He was a lifetime member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar and member of the Norcross-Meyers American Legion Post #316.
   On July 16, 1977 he married Cynthia "Cindy" (Knoble) Maas at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler.
   He was a lifetime farmer, a skill passed onto him by his father.  He took pride in his family farm, loved International tractors and enjoyed being quick with a wisecrack or joke.  He will be remembered as a simple, humble man who was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
   He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, John (Tabitha) Maas; grandchildren, Taylor; Trevor and Maci; sisters, Jean (James) Panning and Rebecca Maas; brother, Thomas Maas; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Anne) Knoble; Bernie (Eileen) Knoble and several nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.
   He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sue Maas.
   A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar with Fr. Francis Mariadas officiating.  Graveside services with military honors will be in the church cemetery and a fellowship luncheon will follow in the St. Louis School basement.
   Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 9-10 a.m., Wednesday at the church.
   The family suggests memorials to Milton Township Fire Department or the donor's choice.
