Doris S. Botjer
March 28, 1930 – June 27, 2022
Doris Serena Botjer, 92, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Monday morning, June 27, 2022 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was born March 28, 1930 in Van Buren, Ohio to the late Howard and Mary (Keckler) Spence. On September 12, 1948 she married Gerhardt “Curley” Botjer and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2007.
Doris was a loving wife and mother. She was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children. She was a gifted sewer and made their clothes and eventually her daughter’s wedding dresses. She will be remembered for her home baked goods, beautiful flower gardens and canning her own home grown vegetables. Her love for her family grew as her family grew. She was a very proud grandma, great grandma and great great grandma.
She also worked at the former Deshler Products/Sherwin Williams factory, Metal Forge and Scarborough Pharmacy in Deshler and Leipsic. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and the Church Altar Guild.
She is survived by 5 children, Arthur “Bill” (Belinda) Botjer; Judy Diemer; Bonny Ellerbrock; Brenda (George) Shope and Jeffrey “Jeff” (Joy) Botjer and sister-in-law, Josephine Spence. She also had 24 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, James “Fritz” Botjer; granddaughter, Jackie; grandson, Jeremy; sisters, Anna Stensen; Alice Stanton; Grace Lulfs; Virginia Like; Sarah Fleming, brothers, Howard “Buck” Spence, Jr.; George Spence; Thomas Spence; Orlo Spence and sons-in-law, Michael Ellerbrock and James Diemer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, Ohio with Vicar Robin Small officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 9-11, Friday prior to the services in the funeral home.
