Esther I. Bergman
October 14, 1924 – January 30, 2022
Esther Irene Bergman, 97, of Deshler, Ohio passed away early Sunday morning, January 30, 2022 at Vancrest Healthcare Center of Holgate, Ohio.
She was born on October 14, 1924 in Bartlow Township, Henry County to the late Carl and Luella (Hoops) Arps. On July 8, 1945 she married Walter Bergman and he preceded her in death in August of 1981.
Esther worked at the former Metal Forge Company, Deshler and was a homemaker. She was very faithful and active at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and a member of the Bavarian Club. You most often seen Esther helping out at both of those places, usually in the kitchen, making sure the meals were ready for special occasions. In her spare time, she enjoyed many years bowling in leagues at Deshler Lanes and she enjoyed the occasional casino trip on buses and with friends. She spent a lifetime contributing to her community and she will be missed for her devotion.
She has a loving family, which she adored. She is survived by a daughter, Kathlene “Kathy” (Steve) Seaholm; grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) McChesney; Peter Hotchkiss; Kim Bergman; Scott (Kelly) Bergman; Jack (Linda) Bergman; Tonia (John) Bair; great grandchildren, Jaricka Altman; Elijah Lantz; Marissa Merritt; Jayden Bergman; Jack Michael Bergman; Joseph Bergman; Joshua Bergman; Layne McChesney; Terry Hotchkiss; Alexis Millican; great-great grandchildren, Eli and Madison; sister, Harriet (Ray) Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Bergman and special friend, Linda Prowant.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Bergman; infant daughter, LouAnn Bergman; grandsons, Thomas Bergman and Tracy Crouch; brother, Eddie Arps and sister, Helen Arps.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler with Pastor Christopher Walter officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the services at the church.
The family suggests memorials be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler.
