Esther E. Bowersox

Esther Emma Bowersox, 94, formerly of Hamler, Ohio passed away early Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton, Ohio.  She had moved to Kenton to live and be closer to her daughter.

She was born August 18, 1926 in Hamler to the late Albert and Alwina (Schwiebert) Honemann.  On June 25, 1950 she married Marvin Bowersox at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1991.

Esther was a 1945 graduate of Hamler High School and was a self proclaimed “Farm Girl”.  She was a dedicated homemaker, but her time and talents were shared with her community and friends.  She worked as bookkeeper for Honemann Garage, Hamler; as a Mary Kay Cosmetic Consultant; sold license plates for many years and operated a craft and yarn shop in Hamler.  She volunteer and was a valuable member of the Hamler Heritage Society; life member of Ottawa VFW; historian for the Luminary 7; past treasurer of Hamler Alumni Association; member of The Friends of the Hamler Library; member of Henry County Arts Council, former 4-H Advisor and a Vacation Bible School Teacher.

She was a lifetime and faithful member of Peace Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church, Deshler.  At church she was the organist for the German services from 1947-1951; member of the Ladies Aide; church choir and a Sunday School Teacher for 30 years.

Esther is survived by her children; Thomas Bowersox, Waynesville, Ohio and Rita (Mike) Shope, Kenton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Melina) Bowersox; Krista (Jason) Dell’Aria; Laura Bowersox; Stephanie (Todd) Jamrose; Sarah (Jason) Helman; 9 great grandchildren, Dominic; Lydia; Madison; Brennan; Dustin; Allison; Maddylin; Jackson; Elizabeth.

She was also preceded in death by brother, Albert Honeman, Jr. and infant sister, Emma Honemann.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. Kurtis Freimuth officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery and a luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
