Helen F. Phillips

Helen Florence Phillips, 93, of Hamler, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, February 10, 2022 at Vancrest Health Care Center, Holgate, Ohio.
She was born February 29, 1928 in Putnam County, Ohio to the late John and Florence (Shondal) Gerschutz. On November 27, 1947 she married James Phillips at St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1989.
For many years, Helen and her late husband, Jim owned and operated the Hamler Dairy Bar. She was also very proud of her years spent as a farmer's wife. After his passing, Helen did not remain idle. She kept herself active and worked at McDonald's in Napoleon, Ohio until she was 80 years old. She enjoyed the morning shift and interacting with many of the regular customers. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler; and the church's Altar & Rosary Society as well as member of the Warren L. McIntyre American Legion Post #262 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her two children, Timothy "Tim" (Colleen) Phillips; Peggy (James) Hinkle; 8 grandchildren, Laurie (Chad) Suntken; Jennifer Stacy (Shawn Brinkman); Jason (Jacie) Phillips; Katrina (Travis) Smith; Terri (Nick) Blake; Melissa Close; David Close; Trevor (Chrissy) Hinkle; 13 Great Grandchildren, Ty Suntken; Nate (Bridget) Suntken; Grant Suntken; Joey Tanner; Brayden Hinkle; Preston (Shaina) Bringle; Anthony (Julia) Bringle; Austin Simmons; Emmeline Phillips; Kieffer Phillips; Evelyn Phillips; Callie Smith; Tay Smith; 4 Great Great Grandchildren, Baily Bringle; Kaylynn Bringle; McKensie Bringle; Mia Bringle.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Phillips, II; great grandsons, Timothy Phillips, III and Benjamin Phillips; and 11 siblings, Angela Brown Niese; Clem Gerschutz; Bernadine Ellerbrock; Albinus Gerschutz; Ida Gilberta Phillips; Bernetta Pletcher; Mary Agnes Gerschutz; Albert Gerschutz; Sister Gilberta Gerschutz; Elizabeth “Betty” Nowicki; Rita Maag.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler with Fr. Nicholas Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Monday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday prior to the mass in the church.
