James L. Kaetzel

August 20, 1943 – June 26, 2023

James Lee Kaetzel, 79, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Monday afternoon, June 26, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on August 20, 1943 in Bowling Green, Ohio the son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Cotterman) Kaetzel.  On February 6, 1966 he married Reba (Stevenson) Kaetzel in Weston, Ohio and they have shared over 57 years together.

Jim was a plumber and worked out of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 50 Union.  He was a 50+ year member.

In the late 1960’s, Jim had a stock car and raced in the ARCA series alongside his good friend Paul “Shakey” Wensink.  He shared this passion for racing with his son and grandson with go-cart racing.  For several years they competed in the Cridersville, Ohio area. 

Over the years he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and woodworking.  He currently was into building clocks and had gifted several beautiful creations to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Reba; two sons, James (Dorrie) Kaetzel, Grants Pass, Oregon; Edward (Tonya) Kaetzel, Deshler; 4 grandchildren, Justin Kaetzel; Abigayle(Jim) Ferguson; Andrew Kaetzel; Adam Kaetzel; sisters, Belinda Grover; Sandra Grover and brother, Mike (Gina)Kaetzel.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Robyn Kaetzel.

Per Jim’s wishes there will be no services.  He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.

The family suggests memorials to the Henry County South Joint Ambulance District.
