John M. Hoops

   John Martin Hoops, 55, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Friday evening, May 30, 2025 at his residence.
   He was born April 15, 1970 in Findlay, Ohio to Melvin and Judith (Rayle) Hoops.  His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Deshler.
   John was a 1988 graduate of Patrick Henry High School where he attended 4-County Vocational School and studied auto mechanics.  After high school he worked as a mechanic for the late Robert Smith at Smith Auto in Deshler.  Upon Bob's retirement, John went into business for himself and owned and operated the Corn City Car Care in Deshler.  He had also worked at Whirlpool in Findlay and most recently could be found behind the counter at the Deshler Marathon Station.
   He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler and an avid fan of sprint car racing and the Eldora Speedway.
   On July 6, 1996 he married Lori (Brown) Hoops and she survives.  He is also survived by daughter, Tiffany Smith (Sean Avren); grandson, Milo; mother, Judy Hoops (Chuck Mouse), two brothers, Alan Hoops and Tim Hoops and many family members and friends.
   John will be remembered for his love for his family and his friendly demeanor with a kind sense of humor.  He always wanted to get a smile from people, whether it was a funny comment, joke or a gesture of his own.  His mechanical skills always led him to tinkering on projects for himself or others.  He enjoyed watching the bald eagles and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
   A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Rev. Christopher Walter officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
