Joyce S. Wensink
May 22, 1935 - May 4, 2025
Joyce Susan Wensink, 89, formerly of Deshler, Ohio passed away Sunday night, May 4, 2025 at Vancrest Health Care Center of Holgate, Ohio.
She was born on May 22, 1935 in North Baltimore, Ohio to the late LeRoy and Ruth (McChesney) Jimison. She was the eldest of two daughters and is survived by her younger sister, Annis Kay (John) Apple.
On July 18, 1952 she married Paul "Shakey" Wensink and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2020.
Joyce worked for over 32 years at the former Metal Forge Company of Deshler, Ohio. She worked in several positions including operating a forklift and as the shipping and receiving clerk. After the plant closed, she worked an additional 10 years at the Kohl's Distribution Center, Findlay, Ohio.
Joyce had a special taste and was one that always tried to keep things positive and filled with laughter. She never met a stranger and would talk just about anyone's ear off. Her favorite places to do this was at Lucy's 22 Campground in Grand Rapids, Ohio and every year at the Fort Loramie Country Concert. When she needed to relax, she found comfort in sewing, knitting and doing ceramics. She made everything from wedding dresses to ceramic Christmas trees. Above everything, Joyce loved her family and especially loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her children, Randy (Deb) Wensink; Ray (Annette) Wensink; Joe (Meir) Wensink; Kaylene (Tom) Wensink-Stevens; 9 grandchildren, Luke (Megan) Wensink; Adam (Andrea) Wensink; Brittany (Eric) Blasiman; Tim (Sarah) Wensink; Jason (Debbie) Wensink; Jake (Robin) Creager; Zac (Kara) Middleton; Tommy Stevens; Logan Stevens and 18 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Huff and granddaughter, Charity Hummel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with her brother-in-law, John Apple officiating. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Friday prior to the services.
The family suggests memorials to Putnam County Hospice.
