Obituary

Kathy J. Washburn
January 3, 1955 - February 9, 2021

Kathy Jean Washburn, 66, of Deshler, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, February 9, 2021 at her residence.
She was born on January 3, 1955 in Sandusky, Ohio to Harry and Jarnice (Olds) Ferdinandsen.  She was married to Richard Meckes and together they had six children.  He preceded her in death in 1985.
She then met Shane Washburn in 1986 and they were later married and have shared over 34 years together.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Harry; son, Rodney Woodruff and his wife, Jolene; daughter, Regina Thompson; son, Zeppelin Ferdinandsen; brother, Tobey Ferdinandsen and niece, Tia Ferdinandsen.
She is survived by her husband, Shane; her mother, Jarnice Tuttle, Findlay, Ohio; her children, Jason (Rosy) Sloat, Alvada, Ohio; Carl (Gina) Meckes, Fenton, Michigan; Holly (Rick "Dewey") Kinder, Deshler; Heather (Jeremy) Naftzger, Jerry City, Ohio; son-in-law, Rick Thompson, Findlay, Ohio; grandchildren, Mackenzie; Tara; Rilynn; Jerzy; Skylar; Katrina; Blake; Ricky; Michael; Tyler; Alexis; Morgan; Madalynn; Alexa; Emily; Hunter; Cortney; C.J.; Faith; Bubba; Shelby; Lakelynn; Leather; Joe; Brooke; Brandi; Amy; Jesse; Jason; Journee; sisters, Tammy Ferdinandsen, Sandusky; Jodi Ferdinandsen, Findlay; Dawnya, Ferdinandsen, Sandusky; brother, Bobby Ferdinandsen, Findlay; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She worked at the former Corn City Bar and Villa Rose Restaurant, both of Deshler.  She offered her meticulous cleaning services to several friends and families in the Deshler area and also cleaned for the Corn City State Bank.
Kathy is what she was called, but she was known as "Grandma Kathy" to so many.  She loved her family and her proudest role was that of being a grandma.  She will be remembered for her selfless and caring nature; with a willingness to give to anyone in need.  She was always friendly and lived by the motto that "no one is a stranger, they are just people we haven't talked to".  When she wasn't sharing her time with others, she enjoyed playing Bingo and stopping in the closest convenient store to play scratch-off lottery tickets.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.  Anyone attending the services will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines.
