Larry Baer

Larry Baer, 80, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2022 at Grand Rapids Care Center, Grand Rapids, Ohio.
He was born June 2, 1942 in Deshler, Ohio to the late Roy "Toot" and Esther (Spoering) Baer.
Larry was a 1960 graduate of Deshler High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Force Policeman. He was married to Louise (Hemminger) Kuhlman and they had two children, Karen and Larry “Bud”.
Larry worked as a certified welder and would often recall his work at the Andersons Grain Elevators and numerous bridge projects around Northwest Ohio. He was a member of the Ohio Carpenter's Union. He was also a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler and attended Harvest Fellowship Church, Hamler, Ohio.
On March 21, 1998 he married Betty (VanScoyoc) Baer at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Deshler.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman and was passionate about hunting, especially seasonal deer hunting. He was a member of the Leipsic Fishing and Hunting. When not playing outdoors, he loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed it so much, he was often on the floor with them, enjoying playful times at their level.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Betty; his children from his first marriage; daughter, Karen (Darrel) Hill, McComb, Ohio; son, Larry LeRoy "Bud" (Colleen) Baer, Cygnet, Ohio; step daughters, Sue Kline (Richard Smith), Metamora, Michigan; Anna (John) Flanigan, Lake Orion, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Justin Hill (Dani Nause); Derrick (Chelsea) Hill; Brandon (Ashley) McKee; Chase (Brittany) McKee; Chelsea Baer; 6 step grandchildren, John (Jessica) Kline; Matthew (Nicole) Kline; Elizabeth Kline (Corey DeGrandchamp); Alexandria (Andrew) Muench; Brennan Flanigan; Jenna Flanigan; 9 great grandchildren, Quinn; Jack; Rowan; Ainsley; Brodie; Ashdon; Lilly; Lila; Easton "on the way"; and 3 step great grandchildren, Brooklynn; Elijah and Ophelia.
He was preceded in death by infant twin sisters, Arlene and Darlene Baer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Pastor Richard Betts officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
