Linda Parker Obituary

Linda L. Parker

August 23, 1948 – April 22, 2023

Linda Lou Parker, 74, of Deshler, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore, Ohio after a long illness.

She was born August 23, 1948 to Wayne “Tag” and Virginia Christman.  Linda attended Deshler elementary, junior and senior high schools.  She was a member of the concert and marching band; a majorette, cheerleader and an honor roll student.  She graduated in 1966 and then attended the Riverside Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio.  She graduated as a Registered Nurse and received her license in September 1969.

On October 19, 1969 she married Roger K. Parker.  They lived in Toledo from 1969-1972 and then returned to Deshler and built their home.  While living in Deshler, she worked at Riverside Hospital until she began working at the former Oak Grove Nursing Home and then for the late Dr. Robert Blough’s office.  After her career in nursing, she became the secretary at Christman Bros. Builders working with her father and uncles.  She would later become a second generation part owner of the company along with her brother and cousins.  She would retire in 2016 after suffering a stroke and severe seizure.

Linda was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler where she was a Sunday school teacher, and administrator of the scholarship fund and many other duties.  She was a former EMT with Deshler EMS and a member of the former Deshler Doctor Committee.  She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and business woman.  She loved shopping for her family, eating out at restaurants; particularly steak houses, Red Lobster and Saturday morning breakfasts at Mama Roses, Deshler.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Christman and father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Erma Parker.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Roger Parker; daughter, Andrea Summers and her husband, Kyle Wise, Columbus, Ohio; son, Brian Parker, Venice, California; brother, Wayne “Junior” Christman and wife Barbara, Deshler; grandson, Nicholas Summers; granddaughter, Amanda Summers and grand-dogs, Jesus Ryder and Abigail Rose and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28 at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Deshler.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler and a luncheon will follow at the Deshler American Legion Hall.
