Louis C. Bremer
May 8, 1923 – January 31, 2022
Louis Carl Bremer, 98, formerly of Deshler, Ohio passed away the evening of January 31 at Glendale Assisted Living of Toledo, Ohio with care from Hospice.
He was born May 8, 1923 in Hamler, Ohio to the late Carl and Anna (Kruse) Bremer. After serving as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army in World War II he returned to Henry County and on October 24, 1948 married Joyce Tussing and they celebrated 67 years together.
Louie tried his hand at several business ventures and decided to take a chance on the building trade. He owned and operated the Deshler Lumber Company with his wife and children working alongside for many successful years. He was proud of the quality workmanship his crews and subcontractors put into Deshler Homes and could tell you where in Northwest Ohio every house was built.
He was a faithful member of Deshler Immanuel Lutheran Church and founding member of the Bavarian Club.
He loved fishing, winters in Florida and helping family members and friends turn their houses into homes.
He is survived by two daughters, Cathy VanScoyoc (Gary Townsend), Bowling Green, Ohio and Joan (David) Hendricks, Saline, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Nicki (Brian) Strunk; Christine Bremer; Jennifer (Chad) Whitmore; Jeremy (Amanda Anderson) VanScoyoc; Jessica (Ken) Pickles; Alison (Dan) Roberts and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Joanne Bremer; and sisters Verna Campey, Iva Spoering, Betty Fetter, Joyce Baker and Florence Borris.
A private ceremony is being planned.
The family suggests memorials to Deshler Immanuel Lutheran Church or a Hospice of the donor's choice.
