Louis "Louie" Mahlmann Obituary

Louis F. Mahlmann
May 9, 1935 – April 11, 2025

Louis Fredrick “Louie” Mahlmann, 89, of Deshler, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, April 11, 2025 at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore, Ohio.
He was born on May 9, 1935 in Holgate, Ohio, to the late Fred and Edna (Seemann) Mahlmann.  On July 2, 1961 he married Rita (Gerken) Mahlmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler.
Louie worked for over 25 years as a janitor with Patrick Henry Local Schools.  Most of his time was spent caring for the former Deshler school.  Prior to that, he worked for the former Pure Gas Station; Honeck Tile Mill and the Deshler Lumber Company.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a church council member and as the custodian.  Louie enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of his personal time hunting, especially deer and turkey.  He took many hunting trips to southern Ohio with friends and family.  In his local community of Deshler, he will be most remembered for his friendliness and the image of him sitting on his porch swing, waving to all who passed by.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Lester (Laurie) Mahlmann; Rhonda (Joel) Lotz; Louise (Rich) Bishop; Ronald “Arn” Mahlmann; Ladina (Jim) Suber; 8 grandchildren, Gregory Lotz; Michael Lotz; Casey Lotz; Caleb (Nina) Mahlmann; Courtney (Dylan) Tonjes; Heather Bishop; Robert (Morgan) Suber, II; Alex Suber; 5 great grandchildren, Kearstin; Jordan; Logan; Maia; Josephine; great great grandson, Elijah; sisters, Delores Rickerd; Mary Lou Curtis; brother, Donald Mahlmann and sister-in-law, Edna Mahlmann.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Seedorf-Schwiebert and brothers, Kenneth and Marvin Mahlmann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. Christopher Walter officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler and a luncheon will follow at the church.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
