Marguerite J. Guardado
June 29, 1935 – February 5, 2026
Marguerite June Guardado, 90, of Glendale, California passed away Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2026 at Brookdale Retirement Community, Findlay, Ohio.
She was born June 29, 1935 in Richfield Township, Henry County, Ohio the first born child of William F. and Rosella (Buchhop) Hoops. She grew up in a loving home with 5 younger siblings and was a baptized and confirmed member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler. She graduated from Deshler High School and attended Bowling Green State University.
She worked for a short time at Garwood Industries, Findlay, and then along with a friend decided to move out west to Arizona. It was here in the early 1960’s where she was recruited to take a job in Los Angeles, California with Paramount Pictures. Marguerite moved to California and for over the next 60 years this job was her calling. She was the payroll clerk and an international bookkeeper for Paramount Pictures, keeping meticulous records for producers and movie stars all over the world. She loved what she did and was a dedicated and somewhat of an irreplaceable employee; as she was called back to work even after she tried to retire.
On February 8, 1970 she married Robert Guardado in Nevada. They shared over 38 years together and Bob preceded her in death on July 23, 2008. Bob was a good husband to Marguerite and when she would allow herself to get away from work; he made sure she enjoyed a fun social life. They owned a condo and spent time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming ; she participated for years in bowling leagues and when at home, she was a skilled knitter and used only the best yarns. Over the years, Marguerite had a heart for rescue dogs; particularly: Hollywood Way, Sherman Way, Jackson Way, Splevis Jones and Donna.
In late 2025, after a traumatic fall, Marguerite returned home to Ohio to be close to her family. Here she was able to be visit with her family and reconnect with generations. She is survived by sisters, Audrey Eis; Elaine (Charles) Moses; Wanda Smith; sister-in-law, Betty Hoops; nieces and nephews; Doug (Sandy) Eis; David (Jennifer) Eis; Charles “Chuck” (Kim) Moses; Forest (Amy) Moses; Katrina (Tod) Sharigian; Patrice Fairweather; Robert (Bert) Hoops; Jennifer (Daryl) Fintel; William “Billy” (Kindra) Hoops; Tyke (Tracy) Hoops and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Hoops; William F. Hoops, Jr.; brother-in-laws, James Eis; William “Sonny” Smith; nephew Keith Smith and niece, Starlet Seman.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler. A private funeral service will be held for the family and Marguerite will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler.

They especially want to thank Tiffany Gougeon who was a special caregiver and friend to Marguerite in California and helped her make the transition back to Ohio.
