Maria Bostelman Obituary

 Maria Bostelman
March 1, 1931 - January 25, 2021

Maria Bostelman, 89 of rural Napoleon, Ohio passed away Monday afternoon, January 25, 2021 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born March 1, 1931 in St. Johann, Hungary to the late Andreas and Anna (Husz) Nagy.
Maria, her mother and 5 younger siblings escaped communist Hungary lead by her 23 year old brother Josef.  With the help of the Catholic Church in Salzburg, Austria the family found work and housing from a newly founded Children’s Home.  It was at this Children's Home that Bob Bostelman, a young American soldier, as part of a military group that brought supplies and gifts to the children.  He met Maria, fell in love and would not leave Austria without her.  Josef got Maria her freedom and Bob got her and her entire family to America.
On December 12, 1953 they were married and then traveled to the USA to settle in Custar, Ohio, were they raised their children.  They were married again at the St. Louis Rectory.
She worked for over 30 years at the Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon, Ohio.  She was faithful catholic and member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, Ohio and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Clermont, Florida.  Bob and Maria spent the winter months in Clermont, Florida.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; daughters, Erna (Joel) Wallace; Linda (Dan) Whitacre; 5 grandchildren, Heath (Alanna) Wallace; Joell Rider; Robert (Liza) Whitacre; Jacoby (Megan) Whitacre; Kathryn (Dan) Stefanczuk; 15 great grandchildren, Kenton; Jamison; Abrie; Jolie; Joey; Evelyn; Cailyn; Ashlyn; Gabriella; Mia; Gracie; Olivia; Ella; Charlotte; Sebastian; sisters, Elizabeth Molner; Erna Bramberger; brothers, Karl Nagy and Peter (Mary) Nagy.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Julianna Bernath; Anna Nagy and brothers, Franz Nagy; Josef Nagy and Andreas Nagy.
There will be a private mass for the family at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar.  A celebration of life service will be planned and announced at a later date.  She will be laid to rest at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Custar.
The family suggests donations to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Louis Catholic Church.  They made it possible for the family to care for Maria at home.  There are no words that can express their gratitude.
Maria was blessed with a healthy, long, loving life.
