Norma Ruth Kuesel, 90, of Deshler, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
She was born February 10, 1933 in Deshler, Ohio to the late William and Sophie (Seedorf) Ludeman.
Norma was a 1951 graduate of Deshler High School. After graduation, she was married to Otto Kuesel, Jr. in a double wedding with his brother, William and Doris Kuesel at St. John Lutheran Church. Otto preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Women of the ELCA. Over the years, her and Otto enjoyed traveling in the winters and taking trips to Clear Lake and Coldwater Lake in the summers. She was a longtime bus driver for the former Hope School and also worked at the former Tem-Cole Radish of McClure.
Above all things, Norma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family and life on the farm brought her true happiness. She was a devoted companion to her husband and helped any way she could, whether she was driving a tractor, hauling tomatoes, or making meals. She was a great cook and her homemade sloppy joes were famous to her grandchildren and the farm hands. She will be remembered as a true matriarch to all of her family.
She is survived by three children, Bonnie Salyers; Cindy Drewes; Steve (Deb) Kuesel; grandchildren, Troy (Danielle) Kuesel; Kent Kuesel (Brenda Rice); Dawn Yates; Heidi (Aric) Christman; Keith (Shawna) Kuesel; Drew (Karissa) Kuesel; step grandson, Mitch Westhoven; great grandchildren, Kaidyn; Nash; Zayna; Ellison; Raine; Ada; Ella; Mya; Dane; step great grandchildren, Cameron; Olivia; Quinnton; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Kuesel.
She was also preceded in death by son, Gary Kuesel; and sons-in-law, Chuck Salyers and John Drewes; sisters, Amanda Rabe; Alma Witte; Ida Meyer and brother, Paul Ludeman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. James Wenger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery and a luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Thursday prior to the services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
