Obituary

Rita M. Ziegler
November 27, 1939 - June 27, 2023

Rita "Retie" Mae Ziegler, 83, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023 at The Meadows of Leipsic.
She was born November 27, 1939 in New Cleveland, Ohio to the late Waldo and Philomena (Schmitt) Lammers.  On October 29, 1960 she married Bernard Ziegler and they have shared over 62 years together.
While a young woman, Rita left school to help her family on the farm and work at the local Chowhouse restaurant.  Later in life, she returned to school and got her GED through Miller City Schools.  She studied further to become an EMT and for 25 years she worked with Deshler and Henry County EMS Services and volunteered with the Henry County Hospice.
Family life was important to her and she was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She worked alongside her husband on the farm and assisted with Ziegler Brothers Farm Drainage.
Rita loved dancing and music.  She worked closely with the Deshler Satellite of Henry County Senior Citizens and did line dancing and other exercises.  With Bernie, they were always around music and dancing.   They would travel to find a local dance or could be found close to home as members of the Bavarian Club.  She loved calling square dances, polka dances and even singing in the choir as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard; three sons, John (Marge) Ziegler; Mike (Nicole) Ziegler; Tom (Ranay) Ziegler; 7 grandchildren, Andy (Becca) Ziegler; Jason (Jessika) Ziegler; Lisa (Conner) Shepherd; Merissa Ziegler; Justin Ziegler; Wyatt Ziegler; Emmitt Ziegler; 3 great grandchildren, Kloie; Sophia; Elais; 1 "On the Way"; 2 adopted great grandchildren, Skyler and Caleb Wenner; brother-in-law, Francis Ziegler and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Rosemary Schroeder; Ruth Ziegler; Rosalie Korte and brothers, Robert Lammers and Ronald Lammers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler and a luncheon will follow at the Bavarian Haus, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with a scripture service at 8:00 p.m.  Visitation will also be from 9-10 a.m., Friday prior to the services.
The family suggests memorials to Putnam County Hospice or the donor's choice.
