Roger K. Rutter
January 23, 1963 – December 19, 2020
Roger Keith Rutter, 57, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020.
He was born on January 23, 1963 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Paul “Pork” and Dorothy “Jean” (White) Rutter. He was raised in a loving home of 8 children and Roger stayed in that home his entire life. He was a loving son and caregiver to his mother after his father passed.
Roger was a 1982 graduate of Patrick Henry High School. While still in high school, local grocery store owner, Wally Amspoker hired Roger at Wally’s Super Valu. Over the years he was a dedicated, punctual and hardworking employee. He would remain there his entire life, even continuing to work for its present owner Ron Budde at Ron’s Super Valu. He was often a quiet presence at the store, but was friendly and kind to everyone. He especially liked to often hand out quarters for candy or gum-ball machines to the young shoppers.
In his spare time, he would help out his family and neighborhood friends with odd jobs like mowing and landscaping. He could often be found at the Deshler Reservoir, enjoying his favorite hobby of fishing. He even took time to build a shanty and ice-fish in the winters. During the warmer summer months, he may skip fishing and enjoy a round of golf with his brothers and friends.
He is survived by his siblings, Dennis Miles (Linda) Rutter, Deshler; Paula (Dave) Moore, Napoleon, Ohio; Dale Rutter, Panama City, Florida; Karl Rutter, Panama City, Florida; Teresa Gerschutz, Tucson, Arizona; Gary Rutter, Deshler; Dean (Bertha) Rutter, Deshler; 16 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Karl Gerschutz and Stephen Baker.
Services will be private for the family at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Rev. Chris Walter officiating. The public is welcome to join the family at the graveside services at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
The family suggests memorials to the Deshler Reservoir Project in care of the Village of Deshler. Those unable to attend are encouraged to leave messages and condolences at www.feehanrodenbergerfuneralhome.com
