Sharon "Sue" Smith Obituary

Sharon "Sue" Smith
October 6, 1942 - September 8, 2020

Sharon "Sue" (McMaster) Smith, 77, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was born October 6, 1942 in Henry County, Ohio to the late Howard McMaster and Hazel (Austermiller) McMaster-Gerken.  On January 31, 1959 she married Robert "Tommy" Smith and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1999.
Sue cared for many children and assisted families for many years by offering baby-sitting in her own home.  She also worked at the former Deshler Products/Sherwin Williams of Deshler.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; the Deshler Garden Club and formerly served on Deshler Village Council.  She will be known for her beautiful flowers and gardening at her home.  She was always pruning and decorating outside for every season.  She was never shy and would greet any stranger with a conversation.  She kept a kind heart that loved and cared for animals.  She will be known by many as "Grandma Sue", although her own grandchildren were always on top of her priority list.
Sue is survived by five children, Scott (Sharon) Smith, Deshler; Ann Labie, Hamler; Sharon (Howard) Arens, Deshler; Kris Smith, Deshler; Kim (Rob) Bonner, Deshler; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren, sister, Beatrice (Paul) Wachter, Bowling Green, Ohio; and half-sister, Judy Flory, Troy, Ohio.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Smith and sister, H. Jean Gerken-Kahorski.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.  Those attending are required to wear masks and respect the social distancing guidelines.
Private funeral services will be held for the family with Pastor Meg Boger officiating.  Sue will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
The family suggests memorials to Deshler Firemen's Association, Deshler Edwin Wood Memorial Library or The Henry County South Joint Ambulance District.
Those unable to attend are encouraged to leave a message for the family at www.feehanrodenbergerfuneralhome.com.
