Steven Lause Obituary

Steven “Bone” Lause
June 28, 1956 – July 15, 2026

Steven George “Bone” Lause, 70, of Custar, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026 at his residence with his devoted wife, Candy by his side.

He was born June 28, 1956 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Aloysius “Weezie” and Mary (Connolly) Lause.  He was the seventh of eight children and grew up in Custar and remained there his entire life.  He was a lifetime member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar and graduated from Bowling Green High School.  He grew up on the family farm; worked alongside his father and became a lifetime farmer of the Lause family farm.  He also worked many years as a Dekalb seed salesman and for over 20 years at The Andersons Fertilizer Plant.

On March 17, 1990 he married Candice “Candy” (Ross) Lause at St. Louis Catholic Church and they have spent over 36 years of love and laughter together.  Bone was always the life of the party and he became notorious at so many establishments, both close to home and far away.  For many years, Bone and Candy took vacations and winters to Apache Junction, Arizona.  He took annual trips to Iowa for pheasant hunting, to Pennsylvania for deer hunting, and Lake Erie for fishing.  Numerous friends joined him over the years and Bone became well known to all the locals each year he arrived.

Locally, Bone made regular stops at the Bowling Green Eagles; Amvets; the Deshler Men’s Association and of course, Loma Linda’s.  For many years he operated his own golf outing  “The Loud Mouth Invite”.  If you ever had the pleasure of playing, you certainly remembered the fun and not the golf.  He also supported his late friend, Timmy Williams and his “Big Apple Deli Open” where the golf was slightly more behaved.

To know Bone was to know fun.  His constant sense of humor and his ability to never meet a stranger was self-evident.  When he arrived, someone always knew him and when he left, you would never forget him.  You will forever remember his style, his one-liners and his friendship.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Candy Lause; three adored daughters, Jennifer (Dan) Spinosi; Allisa Lause; Nicole (Kyle) Behrman; two grandchildren, Evelyn Behrman; Miller Behrman; sisters, Cecilia Krause; Patricia Weisenbach; brothers, Anthony (Theresa) Lause; Joseph (Martha) Lause; in-laws, Marilyn Lause and Debbie (Tim) Jividen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Marie Moloney; Teresa Muellenbach; brother, Michael Lause; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Moloney and Robert Krause.

Public visitation will be from 2-7 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2026 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.  The family will have private funeral services and Bone will be laid to rest at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Custar.
