Terry "Bugs" Baer

September 23, 1946 - July 27, 2022

Terry "Bugs" Baer, 75, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and formerly of Deshler, Ohio passed away peacefully on the evening of July 27, 2022 at Bridge Hospice in Findlay, Ohio.

Terry was born September 23, 1946 to the late John and Irene Baer of Deshler.  

Terry attended and graduated Deshler High School in 1964.  Terry enlisted in the USMC and served from 1966-68 with one tour in Vietnam, and returned with a purple heart.  On Sept 21, 1968 he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (Hogrefe) Baer and they have shared over 54 years together.

Terry is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Hogrefe) Baer; two children, Roshelle (Steve) Battista; Matthew Baer; 6 grandchildren, Cole Battista; Samantha Battista; Curtis Baer; Hunter Baer; Trey Baer; Camryn Baer; 2 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Baer and Ethan Baer; brother, Steve (Mickie) Baer and sister, Connie (Baer) Petersen. 

Terry was happiest in the driver’s seat as a sprint car driver in his younger years. After he retired from driving he was at home in the pits as part of the crew of SC Racing.  He was fond of fishing, boating, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  His motto was always family first and he was the heart, soul and backbone of our family.  He was loved by all, told the funniest stories, and will be deeply missed.  

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. Richard Sauerlender officiating.  Graveside services with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.  Friends and family will be received from 10-11 a.m. prior to the services.
