   Velma Dorothy Godeke, 93, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, December 3, 2023.
   She was born on September 27, 1930 in Defiance County, Ohio to the late William and Frieda (Gerken) Biederstedt.  She was a 1947 graduate of Jewell High School. 
   On October 22, 1950 she married Wilbur Godeke at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona and they shared over 55 years together before he preceded her in death on January 4, 2006.
   Velma worked as a cook for 22 years at the Filling Home of Mercy, Napoleon.  She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler.  Over the years, she was devoted to her family and was a supportive farm wife and homemaker. 
   She is survived by her children, Nancy (Daniel) Johnson; Philip Godeke; Kenneth (Dawn) Godeke; 11 grandchildren, Richard Johnson; Steve (Alicia) Johnson; Tina (Robert) Tasker; Jennifer Godeke; Kelly Godeke; Mike Meyer; Tim Meyer; Nick Meyer; Alexis (Ian) Carlson; Jasper Godeke; Jerett Godeke; 14 great grandchildren and son-in-law, Paul Meyer.
   She was also preceded in death by a son, William Godeke; daughter, Judith Meyer; granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson; brothers, Fred Biederstedt; Arnold Biederstedt; and sisters, Emma Cohrs; Amelia Norden; Hilda Riefers; Lavina Samlow; Laura Prigge and Martha Gruenhagen. 
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. James Wenger officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery and a luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
   Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Thursday prior to the services in the church. 
   The family suggests memorials to St. John Lutheran Church.
