William “Bill” Schwiebert
April 24, 1936 – February 22, 2023
William “Bill” F. Schwiebert, 86, of Hamler, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his residence.
Bill was born April 24, 1936 in Hamler to George and Emilie (Drewes) Schwiebert. As a young boy, his mother passed away and his father remarried and he had a loving stepmother in Pauline (Lange) Schwiebert.
On December 7, 1963 he married Marilyn Gobrogge at Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler and they have shared over 59 years together.
Bill was a lifelong multi-generation farmer. He worked alongside his father, his son and currently his grandsons. He was a lifetime member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler and held various offices. For over 30 years he was the cemetery trustee and developed a great passion for caring for the cemetery needs. He was also a past member of the Hamler Elevator board.
Bill could often be found slowly traveling the countryside in his John Deere Gator or his blue pick-up truck. He was either picking up trash and recyclables or coming from tearing down an old building. He always seemed to find a way to not be wasteful and leaving things better than he found them.
Over the years he enjoyed traveling with his wife and they particularly took many bus trips. Together they were devoted to their family and he leaves a beautiful legacy for them all to follow.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; children, Doug (Michelle) Schwiebert; Kathy (Stan) Bishop; grandchildren, Nathan (Jenni) Schwiebert; Nicholas (Heather) Schwiebert; Noah Schwiebert; Nataya Schwiebert; Brendan Bishop; Mackenzie Bishop (Jordan Moore); great grandchildren, Evan and Thea Schwiebert; Ellie Schwiebert; sisters, Donna Crossland; Verlinda (Rick) Schantz and Shirley (Jim) Schroeder.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother; sisters, Mary Lou Joseph; Arlene Turner, brother, Marvin J. Schwiebert; brothers-in-law, Bob Crossland; Bill Bevelhymer and great-grandson, Owen Schwiebert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28 at Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler with Rev. Barbara Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, February 27 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday at the church.
